To human colonies, Waugh are seen as enormous living middle-fingers sent to the human race by the Highers. Appearing seemingly out of the blue to annoy anything that moves, some folktales claim them to be the cursed form of gossipers and sowers of ill will, made to holler themselves hoarse for eternity. The more enlightened folk see them as the drippings of the Forbidden City's horrible work, tottering dolls that many know as the namesake of an insult thrown at blabbermouths. Despite their seemingly universal hatred, a team under the esteemed Dr. D. Steph have pioneered methods of power generation, food production, and even entertainment that rely on Waugh as a catalyst.

Uh, one problem with that energy output idea: “doesn’t” is not the same as “never needs to”. It requires food and sleep, but chooses not to, instead opting to scream until it dies of starvation, a common fate for most of the Garbage Class.

TL:DR Garbage-Class entities are NOT perpetual motion machines. They don’t not need sustenance, they just can’t or won’t get some.

If it constantly rocks back and forth and never needs to eat or sleep, hypothetically a bunch of these could produce electricity through some kind of kinetic-to-electric-energy converter. Its screaming could also produce electricity by energy conversion, though not as much as the constant rocking.

Therefore, Waugh is not worthless. It's a highly cost-effective energy production unit, though since its output is probably low, it's best used for auxiliary power.

A bunch of Waugh could also be attached by means of a harness to a large crank-operated generator. As they rock back and forth, they would turn the crank.

They could also be used to crush the shells of nuts by attaching an armor plate to their butts, placing them above a selection of nuts with the shells on, and then letting them rock back and forth until the nuts' shells are cracked.

If it's possible to breed them to accept simple commands, it's possible a bunch of Waugh could make a dancing/singing troupe. Some would only scream, some would only wail, and some would only moan; by poking them with a stick in a specific order a "trainer" could compose a melody, much like playing a xylophone. Of course, since they produce noise for their entire existence, they wouldn't be silent prior to being poked with a stick, but instead scream relatively quietly.

With use of an amplifier, they could be useful as biological sound cannons for crowd control.

It would be a great security system if it didn't scream ALL the time. At the very least I suppose it could provide great ambience for a haunted house....if the people of Mortasheen needed one of those. Hmmm...

Anyway, there are few food products more creepy than a plucked turkey, even though an animated plucked turkey would be pretty harmless all things considered. I guess its main value on a Mortasheen team would be its intimidation factor.

This one seems fairly similar to Esophagullet, with the chicken-like body and stomach mouth. It even constantly shouts all the time like Esophagullet.

I could see Esophagullet being a hard-to-create Mortasheen (a balance issue considering how savage it is, perhaps), majority of attempts resulting in Waughs. Assuming it's just not me looking to far into the parallels, of course.
