There are 2 kinds of symbiosis: mutualism and commensalism.  Mutualism is where both parties benefit.  Commensalism is where one benefits and the other doesn't, but the other isn't hurt either.  Then of course there's parasitism, which isn't a form of symbiosis and is when one party benefits while the other is hurt.
