In addition, another peculiarity with strepsipterans is that some of their triungulins (eg. those of Mengenilla chobauti) are so small that their head is no longer has the necessary volume for a brain (extremely small insects have very large brain volume/body volume ratios, as after a certain point brains can't be miniaturized further.) The solution? Place the brain into the thorax and abdomen instead, the head having been left only with elongated optic nerves that connect to the rest of the brain in the thorax.

It seems that many of us share the thought that these little men are in actuality fungi from yuggoth. Also, doing a similar image search for the male nets me a BUNCH of pictures of Jessica Simpson. I wonder at the implications of that.
