Thank you Bogleech, this article is simply amazing I wish they'd bring it back on TV. I used to be frightened of the giant orange worms and the green sponge, that was the thing of nightmares. I believe Sire, aka the thing upstairs appears to be a brain but that's from my perspective he might be perceived different to you but it was just a thought. Anyway thanks again! =D

Brilliant - just brilliant :) My hubby is still a fan of Trapdoor and watches them over and over. The one thing that I can't get him is a scarf with Berk, or indeed anything with the Trap door on it. Anyone have any ideas, or anyone know of someone who can knit a scarf without a pattern but just follow a picture. It's my life's mission as I know he would adore it. He asks year after year but I am still to find it .... Great website by the way - really do love it.

I love that you are the only person on the internet to make an article about Trapdoor. I grew up on this show (from the UK) and along with Ghostbusters and Bump in the Night it was one of my favourite childhood shows. I appreciate this SO much you don't even know!! :) You're awesome and I think if anyone deserved this in their life as a child, it was you. Stupid geography!! :[

Ohhhh how I loved this show! Its tv gold and now my 4 year olds fave! We even have a cuddly Burk- thanks muchly for bringing the brilliance of Trap Door to the US audiance! Our 80's tv shows were ohh so awesome!

Oh, how I and my siblings loved this show. I can't help but have a feeling of nostalgia reading this.
I'm not even twenty yet and I have fond memories of this show. God bless the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Thanks so much for helping to revert to childhood. It was one of my favorite games. Played in TRAP DOOR when I was nine years old. While we in Russia have been popular for household computers Series Spectrum. At the time, was born so many interesting ideas. Thanks again! :)

I love this series since I learned about it here. I'm now trying to get my 4 year old second cousin to watch it but he's such a scaredy cat about anything threatening or even creepy (He was terrified of watching Monsters Inc and even Wall-e). Hopefully this will get him to be a little more relaxed with weird stuff.

Yeayh, it's easy to confuse stuff when you're going back that far. The Cthulhu episode aired back in that magical year of 1987.

I actually have very few specific memories of the content of "The Real Ghostbusters." I mainly remember things that related to it. It was one of my favorite shows at some point before I started kindergarten. Then my mother forbid me from watching it because she thought it was a bad influence (same with "Fraggle Rock"). Then in the summer of '89 the ban was lifted and I watched Season 4 and reruns of 2 and 3 and bought some of the merchandise (although at that point I was much more interested in "Ninja Turtles" toys). One thing I do remember distinctly is laying awake in bed one night internally debating whether the woman in the new "Ghostbusters" episodes was the same one who was in the old ones.

Actually I think I saw Eureka's Castle long after. I get my time periods crossed when I remember my childhood. I first got to see RGB when the Cthulhu episode premiered.

When did you finally get to see "The Real Ghostbusters?" I'm asking because I find it odd that you mention seeing "Eureeka's Castle" before that, since it didn't premier until "Ghostbusters" was in its waning days.

nah not really, I came up with the title "fear hole" as a sort of deliberately lame parody of "twilight zone," and developed the idea around the title really :p
